Devotees worship Manasa in a variety of forms. Together with Devi Saraswati and Lakshmi, I may mention the form of Pindi. Traditionally, only devotees have worshipped the pindis.

Manasa Devi can also be approached as a form of Durga. In early ages, when gods were visible in the world, Daksha, the father of Sati, did not like Shiva and was against his marriage with his daughter. As a consequence of this, Sita burned herself in a fire celebration that Daksha organized one day. This outraged Shiva so much that he destroyed the celebration place and killed Daksha. Lord Shiva was so furious that his frenzy could even destroy the whole Earth. It was Lord Vishnu who stopped the Shiva's raging and destruction (Hindus are familiar with this type of dance as the Tandava celestial dance of destruction) with His Sudarshana Chakra, a sharp discus weapon, as the gods were afraid that Lord Shiva would destroy the whole planet. Lord Vishnu cut the Sati's dead body to pieces that fell on the ground. The places these pieces fell on are known as Shakti Peethas, or the most Holy Places of Goddess Shakti.
